> SINGLE FAMILY / GREEN HOME

Situated on the dyke, a site sandwiching between West Lake and Red River, the residence houses 3 compact apartments superimposed on an office and a home studio. Generous gardens (front, back, and roof) of lush tropical flora furnish the exterior while provide an enriched environment for live-work. Roof-mounted PVs, wind turbines, natural cross ventilation, harvested rainwater, and green roof are main green house features. PV Solar collectors and two wind turbines supplement 80% of power demand. Rain water harvested in underground tank is used for irrigation, cleaning, and growing organic vegetables. Perforated aluminum skin acts as sunshade, and is configurable to enable cross ventilation and various degrees of openness and desired privacy. The house is designed as a prototype that can be adapted to future live-work solutions.
